RESIDENCE IN VOULA / 2014-2016

The project begins with the implementation phase, on an existing building envelope, in order to incorporate the needs of its new owners. The interior layout was redesigned from scratch with simultaneous interventions on the facades of the building. The steep slope of the site together with the unique view towards the sea, played a key role at the final composition.
The residence evolves in four levels. The first level hosts the parking area and a staircase connects externally the levels of the residence along with its courtyards. The main entrance leads to the living area where the space expands onto a large balcony. The use of timber floor internally and timber deck externally along with the choice of minimal frame windows reinforce the connection and continuity between inside and outside.
The use of the transparent glass balustrade in the main staircase enhances the sense of open-space and highlights the textured wallpaper that unifies vertically the levels of the residence.
The master bedroom is located on the second level and occupies the whole floor area. An element that acts as a partition, descents from the ceiling and integrates the audiovisual systems of both the master bedroom and of the living area above. The partition also bounds the master bath from the bedroom allowing views from one space to the other while its base hosts the bathtub and a linear fireplace. Internal blackout rolls are used to isolate the space and give privacy when needed and large mirrors are placed strategically in order to give extra depth and emphasize  the view.
The third level consists of the children bedrooms with their in-suite bathrooms and on the lower level the playroom area fully opens towards the swimming pool and BBQ area.
At the rear part of the residence an autonomous guest house is placed that unfolds in two levels. A small staircase connects both and gives the top floor bedroom the sense of a loft that opens to the living area below.
Hidden and recessed lighting enhance the clean lines of the design and along with the chosen furniture form a modern and functional living environment.
