This project was about the extension and renovation of an existing private residence on the island of Mykonos.
The overall concept aims to keep the principles of the Cycladic architecture during the expansion and to renovate with a commitment to the minimal architecture. By using local materials, the office found another way to connect architecture with the specific locale.
The house has a spatially complex design. The entry floor, the house’s middle level, is a series of kitchen, dining place and living spaces and the pool with the outdoor spaces. The top floor is divided into two master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and the gym. The basement, built into the sloping site, houses the guest rooms with the staff room and the storage areas. The house has also a private helipad.
The outdoor space is categorized in zones, based on the different needs during the day.
